
Leona Louise (born 3 April , 1986) is an British performer, actress, activist, and actor. Her birthplace and childhood was in the London Borough of Islington and went to Croydon's BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Lewis gained national attention when she won the third season of The X Factor in 2006 and was awarded a PS1 million recording contract in partnership with Syco Music. The winning single, which was an original cover to Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment like This", peaked at first place for the duration of four weeks on UK Singles Chart and broke an all-time record of 100,000 digital downloads within just thirty minutes. Clive Davis, Lewis's American record label J Records signed Lewis a 5 album deal in February 2007. Her success continued after she debuted her first album, Spirit (2007). It is certified platinum within the UK, becoming the fourth-best-selling album of 2000s. Spirit was, according to Official Charts Company is the greatest-selling debut album of a female artist. The album's lead track, "Bleeding Love", went on to chart for seven weeks in the UK. 1 in the UK and was the best-selling single in 2007. In the US it was also the most-seller single of 2008 , and Lewis was named Best New Artist by Billboard in the same year. The artist released Echo in the year 2009 and released "I See You" as the theme track. In 2011, Lewis released the single "Collide", a collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii along with her debut extended play, Hurt: The EP. Glassheart (2012) marked Lewis the release of her the third album of her studio. This was Lewis the first time she tried electronic music and dubstep. Lewis began recording music for her first Christmas album in the course of her Glassheart Tour, which took between mid-2013. In the following year, Christmas with Love featuring the lead single "One more night" was ranked third within the UK. Lewis, an British female solo artist, became the first to hit the top five with eight songs. It was more than Olivia Newton John's record which included seven singles.
