Audra is an artist who stands out because of her range and variety of her talent as a songwriter and performer. The winner of a record-breaking seven Tony Awards two Grammy Awards and an Emmy Award in 2015 she was ranked among Time magazine's top 100 influential people. She also received the National Medal of Art, which is America's highest honor for achievement in this field -- from the President Barack Obama. She's equally comfortable in film, television and Broadway. Her luminous soprano is a perfect fit for the stage. As well as her stage work, she has a thriving career as a recording and concert artist who performs regularly at most prestigious venues in the world. Born into a musical family McDonald was raised in Fresno California and received her classical training in the New York's Juilliard School. A year after graduating she was awarded the debut Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in an Musical for Carousel at the Lincoln Center Theater (1994). The following four years, she was awarded two additional Tony Awards as a featured actress for her roles on Terrence Mcnally's Broadway debuts Master Class (1996) and Ragtime (1998). McDonald's return to television networks began in 2003 when she starred with Josh Brolin in Mister Sterling. In early 2006 she joined the crew of The Bedford Diaries on the WB. The Bedford Diaries and over the following season, she played a recurring role on the NBC television show Kidnapped. In 2016, McDonald was nominated for a fourth Emmy Award for her role on HBO's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill, a film-special. The Bite will be a 6-episode drama focusing on a deadly epidemic co-produced by Spectrum Originals, CBS Studios and Taylor Schilling in 2021. McDonald has a brief appearance in the CBS legal drama The Good Wife as U.S. attorneys Liz Lawrence and Liz Reddick from 2009 until 2018, reprised these role (now called Liz Reddick) in The Good Fight as the Paramount+ season regular. McDonald has been nominated for three Critics Choice Award awards. She appears as a special appearance on the HBO series The Gilded Age by Julian Fellowes.
